Abstract
Livestock development directed to compete in national and international markets, by increasing competitiveness, strengthening national food security to food self-sufficiency, and enhance the contribution of livestock in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Competitiveness of livestock industry at west sumatra was still low to supply the needs of meat in local and national region. The purpose of this research was mapping the competitiveness of livestock products at West Sumatra. This research used survey method was literature study. The result showed that the competitiveness of livestock products were : meat products 0.33, eggs 0.33, milk 0.20, skin product 0.08 and leather-products 0.04. Recommendations for improving the competitiveness of the livestock industry products at west sumatra were meat products and eggs.
