Abstract

Demand for the world of work to the worker candidate criteria considered higher only. The world of work is not only prioritize the academic skills (hard skills) is high, but also attention skills in terms of the values inherent in someone or often known as soft skills aspect. ability This can be called also by the ability of nontechnical course have a role no less important to the ability of academic.One way to develop these skills is by inculcalating the skills into the curriculum, in a socalled hidden curriculum. However, the current curriculum only focuses on the development of academic knowledge or content of the diciplines, while development of soft skills does not get much attention yet. This study will describe the factors that hinder the implementation of students centered learning (SCL) in building the students soft skills, and will explore a prosess and strategy to implement SCL that focuses on soft skills development. The objectives of this research are to identify some factors that hinder the development of soft skill in the SCL implementation, to identify resources to support implementation of SCL, and to introduce a strategy and process to implement the SCL that will be able to develop students’ soft skills. Data collection methods are questionnaires. Samples are comprised of stakeholders. We collected 30 respondents. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics are applied: frequencies, averages and maximum and minimum values. The research discovered that the type of of soft skills that need to be developed for the alumni in the future are, among others, communications skills, work as a team, network building, problem-solving skills, conflict resolution, and facing stress. In conclusion, our research recommends incorporation of a soft skills development program. The research also discusses some limitations and areas for future exploration.
