Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of Pesisir cattle breeders in the Bayang District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatera. This research was conducted in September-October 2020 in the Bayang District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatera. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using a survey method. The characteristics of Pesisir cattle breeders were based on socio-demographics, including based on the age of 50-59 years (40.00%), most of them were male as many as 16 people (53.30%), the latest education was junior high school (45.50%), the most main occupation was farmers (56.70%), livestock farming experience was 9.72 ± 8.10 years, the reason for raising cattle was savings (93.30%), reasons for choosing Pesisir cattle was easy to maintain (93.30%), and livestock purposes for breeding (93.30%).
