Abstract

Sanrego ( Lunasia amara Blanco) have used as traditional drug to overcome the erection’s problem, so it expected to be able to assist to overcome man infertility problem. Experiment concerning effect of sanrego ( Lunasia amara Blanco) to Japanese strain mice (Mus musculus) sperm viability has been done in Natural Organic Chemical Laboratory of Mathematic and Science Faculty And Biological Laboratory of Medical Faculty, Andalas University. Sanrego extract dose are 25 mg/kg weight/day, 50 mg/kg weight/day, 75 mg/kg weight/day, and 100 mg/kg weight/day. Result of sperm viability expressed in percentage (%) Result of experiment show the increasing of mice sperm viability value from 54,6 % at control with aquadest become 59,2% at dose 25 mg/kg weight/day, and reach highest 62,2% at dose 50 mg/kg weight/day, then decrease become 58,6% at dose 75 mg/kg weight/day, and lowest become 51,6 % at dose 100 mg/kg weight/day. With the Kruskal-Wallis statistic test and continued with the Mann-Whitney test got sperm viability difference in significant mean at dose 50 mg/kg weight/day (α < 0,05). The aethanol extract of sanrego ( Lunasia amara Blanco) has different effect to mice sperm viability, so it still needed a furthermore research so it can be exploited as alternative medication to solve man infertility problem.
