Tradescantia spathacea (Sw) herb is traditionally used to treat several diseases. Safety and good quality and the availability of safety data are very important for the herb-drug product.This study aims to determine the quality of simplicia in qualitative and quantitative ways including organoleptic, macroscopic, microscopic, phytochemical screening, chromatographic profile, fluorescence characteristics and quantitative methods related to ash value, acid insoluble ash value, water and ethanol soluble extract, moisture content and total flavonoid levels. Herbs of nanas kerang have a brownish green powder with a distinctive smell that is rather bitter and has no taste, the macroscopic has a lanceolate leaf type, a pointed tip and a green color, a dark green bottom surface. Round stem, herbaceous with tap root. Fragments of herb microscopic are anthocyanin, lower epidermis, have a parasitic stomata type, poliarch type roots, transport files with thickened dots and spirals and needle crystals. Phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and terpenoids.The results of the quantitative test found a total ash value of 9.31%±0,0336 acid insoluble ash value 1.86%±0,0349, water and ethanol soluble extract was determined and were discovered to be 16.94%±0,0516 and 11,96%±0,1596, moisture content 9,64%±0,1591, total flavonoid level 1,2426%±6,883 x 10-5/ 1 gram of extract. This study showed significant results on the characteristics of nanas kerang herb which could complete the monographic extract data
