Abstract
The Minangkabau language is inseparable from borrowing words. The history of borrowing in this language coincides with the entry of outside influences into the archipelago. It is therefore not surprising that there are many vocabularies from Sanskrit, Arabic, Dutch, Portuguese and other foreign languages in the Minangkabau language. Previously, the foreign word was adjusted to the Minangkabau language rules. The phonemes are adapted to the Minangkabau language phoneme system including the phoneme distribution rules. According to this rule, there are a number of phonemes that do not appear in the final position. This study aims to describe the names of household appliances that come from foreign languages and identify errors of language rules they break. Data are collected using an interviewing method that is described in a set of techniques. In analyzing the data, referential and articulatory identity methods that are implemented with a set of techniques. The results showed that many foreign words on household appliances were still in the form of absorption words and absorption words that have phonemes that appear in the final position that is not in the general Minangkabau phoneme distribution rules.
