Abstract
An experiment to study the effect of quercetrin and Arbuscular Mycorrhizae Fungi (AMF) on the growth of in-vitro mangosteen seedlings in acclimatization phase was conducted at a screen house, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University, from June to November 2008. The aim was to study the effect of quercetrin concentraüon in increasing symbiosis between Arbuscular Mycorrhiza Fungi (AMF) and in-vitro mangosteen seedling in aclimatization phase. A two-way factorial experiment was set in a completely randomised design with three replicates. The first factor was 4 quercetrin concentration level (0 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm, and 150 ppm) and the second was 4 genotypes of AMF (Glomus etunicatum, Glomus manihotis, Gigaspora margarita, and without AMF). Innoculation of AMF in the form of propagul with zeolite porter that contain 50 spores g-1 inokulan and was given as much as 20 g per pot-l. The innoculation of AMF and quercetin treatments were provided proceeding acclimatization. Data were analysed using anova and multiple comparison using Ieast Significant Difference. Result showed that Glomus etumicatum and Glomus manihotis had similar effect on the infection of five-month-old mangostene roots but higher than that of Gigaspora margarita. The highest infection level of roots by all AMF was observed at the seedling treated with 100 ppm. Quersefn. In general, Glotnus etunicatum was more effective than Glonmus manihotis. However, these two species were more effective than Gigaspora margarita as indicated by P content, percentage of live, the growth of root, leaf and stem, and total dry weight of seedlings.
