Abstract

Salacca (salacca edulis L.) is a high economic plant as the original tropics. Sex type salacca including dioceus, monoceous and hermaphrodites. Successing farmer in the cultivation is determinated by the ratio of males and females. The ratio of male and female plants in the field is 1:10. Sex determination of based morphological characteristics are less effective and difficult in the young plants (seedlings). Using of RAPD technique (Random Amplified Polymorfism DNA) is a technique based markers. DNA’s of those populations were exstracted by CTAB method. Out of the 300 tested primers, two primers, namely OPL-13 and UBC-78, produced 469 bp and 562 bp fragment, respectively and were importanly recognized to distinguish between male and female, accordingly. Key word : sex determination, dioecey, RAPD molecular marker
